Not just Slapping It On: Art and Technology
Thea Stallwood
Over the past few years we have seen an increasing number of artists using technology in their work. Accessible, affordable, open-source devices such as the Arduino have played a large part in this.
Thea Stallwood is a multi-disciplinary artist working with film, sound, print and web-based work. She creates interventions, performances, films, audio walks, participatory events and publications concerned with information and perception.
She has taught in a variety of schools and community settings, co-curates artist collective Propeller Island and has completed Digital Media Artist Residencies in Switzerland, Wales and, most recently, at South Hill Park, Bracknell.
As part of the Input/Output residency at Digital Media Centre, South Hill Park, Thea has been experimenting with technology, particularly Arduinos, Sensors and Isadora. During her talk, Thea will discuss her artwork, the residency workshops and taught skills, and bringing the two together.
