Hardware meets Software

Josh Homerston and Sam Delaney

We've had live coding demonstrations at Reading Geek before, but on Tuesday Josh Homerston and Sam Delaney will be putting themselves in the spotlight as they attempt to develop a full hardware+software solution in 20 minutes.

Sam studied "Applied Artificial Intelligence & Cybernetics" and now works in the Educational and Pharma sectors. His 'special powers' include using technology to reduce the time humanity wastes on mundane tasks.

Josh is currently a Masters student of electronic engineering at the University of Reading. He has many hobbies, but always seems to find himself soldering one thing to another and making lights flash. This will be Josh's 3rd Reading Geek talk, and hopefully the best yet!

Josh says....

"It may be foolishness, but Sam and I have decided to code a solution incorporating hardware and software from scratch during the talk. I'll be wiring some basic inputs and outputs up to an Arduino, and Sam will be writing an interface for the resultant device using the Windows Presentation Foundation. We're hoping to give people an insight into hardware and software integration, as well as showing that it can be really speedy with the right tools."
